Emily Moon River Lodge is owned by Mark Valentine and his wife Christine. The hotel is filled with the treasures they have collected from their travels all over Africa, Asia and Polynesia. Most of their rare finds are destined for Amatuli Artefacts, their eclectic trading store in Johannesburg but some find a home at the Emily Moon River Lodge.
This luxurious boutique hotel is managed by Alex Olivier and his wife Candice, who maintain the impeccable standards and the warm, welcoming ambience that attracts visitors from all over the world.
Plettenburg Bay is reputed to be the playground of the rich and famous. With the most beautiful beaches in South Africa, a sophisticated nightlife and restaurants to satisfy the most discerning of foodies, it is a jewel in the Garden Route’s crown. With a backdrop of forests, mountains and river valleys, it offers a myriad of sporting and cultural activities and is in close proximity to the Plett Winelands.Emily Moon River Lodge is within easy reach of Plettenberg Bay (7.1 kms) Your suite is ready and waiting. Rooms
The lodges – 6 luxury suites, two honeymoon suites and two family suites – are completely separate. Sheer indulgence greets you at the door and each lodge has a spacious living area, a well appointed bathroom with underfloor heating, a wooden viewing deck, a fireplace, wi-fi, plantation blinds, a ceiling fan, a mini bar and satellite TV. No two lodges are alike but they all feature rare artifacts collected from the length and breadth of Africa.
Lodge Suites
These lodges are completely private and connected by leafy wooden walkways. The six luxury suites sleep 2 adults while the family suites can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children. Each lodge has its own deck with spectacular views of the Bitou River valley.

The River House
This is a spacious family home, located 5 minutes away from the lodge, with 5 main bedrooms, 2 loft bedrooms for kids and 5 bathrooms and 4 outdoor showers. Set on the banks of the Piesang River, it has all amenities of the Emily Moon River Lodge suites and is the perfect setting for a family holiday. Mountain biking, canoeing, swimming, hiking, bird watching or relaxing by the pool, no one will have time to be bored. At night you can be a true African and tell stories in the boma.
